Ukraine Adoption Department

On March 25, 2006 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved Resolution #367 creating the new adoption authority State Department for Adoption and Protection of Children's Rights (Ukraine Adoption Department) under the Ministry of Family, Youth, and Sports. The former adoption authority was the National Adoption Center under the Ministry of Education and Science.

Ukraine Adoption Department will be responsible for adoption and guardianship issues, child placement in family-type orphanages and foster families, protection of childrenТs rights, freedom and interests, and prevention of children's neglect and homelessness.

The transfer of adoption documentation from the National Adoption Center to the State Department for Adoption and Protection of ChildrenТs Rights is expected to start on April 3.

The Department will be open and become fully operational on May 3.

The Department are headed by the Director, Volynets (or may be spelled Volinets) Lyudmila Semenovna.

Her Deputy is Balym (or may be spelled Balim) Lyudmila (or may be spelled Ludmila) Volodimirovna. The Head of International Adoption Bureau Remen Olena Mykolaivna.
